Riversides -- Where Water Quality Begins

Vision & Mission

Our Vision

The key to the RiverSides Vision is its holism that reflects not just the rivers but the communities in which citizens who depend upon those rivers run their lives.

Healthy rivers, free from polluted runoff and stormwater flows, contributing to ecologically sustainable communities.

Our Mission

The Mission began as a statement of what work we would do to achieve our Vision and resulted in a reflection of the needs of the community as seen through the lens of RiverSides’ work and efforts. This resulted in the creation of two program themes through which all RiverSides efforts are focused.

  • Create RiverSafe Communities

RiverSides protects rivers by reducing runoff pollution from individual properties. We deliver the knowledge and tools people need to make the connection between personal action and healthy rivers.

  • Demonstrate urban watershed leadership

RiverSides works with stakeholders to develop programs and educational products, and advance policy that preserves, protects and restores rivers.

Facts About Water

The largest source of pollution to urban rivers is untreated stormwater runoff, which contains sediment, sewage, pesticides, road salts, pet waste, oil and grease.
